Projects Section Overview in ScreenDragon
The 'Projects' section within ScreenDragon provides a comprehensive view of all active projects accessible to the user, governed by their access rights. The Projects List is customizable and displays various columns of project data based on the settings defined during system setup.
Access and Configuration
Administrators can configure the section to control user access to specific projects and determine what information is displayed in the list view. This flexibility ensures that users can view only the relevant data for their role while maintaining project security.
Key Features
- Search Content: Use the free text field to filter projects by their titles, enabling quick access to relevant projects.
- Excel Export: Export the project list to Excel. The filters applied on the list are carried over to the exported document, ensuring consistency in data retrieval.
Click Allow to download the project list.
View, edit, and share the details in the spreadsheet.
- Show Pipeline Projects: Optionally display projects still in the pipeline status. (This is configurable and may not be visible depending on the system setup.)
- Enhanced Filtering Options: Click the Filter button to access additional display and filtering options, which allow for tailored views of project data.
The filtering options empower you to refine your view of the project list, ensuring you see only the most relevant entries. In the image below, you'll notice the ability to filter for Active Projects, My Projects, and those designated as My Favorites. Additionally, you can customize the display by viewing projects in a list format, by status, or in monthly increments. - Project Type Filtering: Organize and identify projects based on type, facilitating effective categorization and management.
- Project Status: Filter projects by status, including an 'All' option or other statuses as defined in the system settings.
- View My Projects: This option displays only the projects for which the user holds edit or admin access rights, facilitating focused management and oversight.
- My Favorites: Toggle the visibility of projects marked as Favorites, providing quick access to frequently referenced projects.
- Change View: Projects can be viewed in various formats, including List, Status, Phase, and time frames such as 3, 6, or 12 months, per system definitions.
- New Project: You can create projects directly from this section, streamlining the project initiation processes.
- Sort & Filter: Click the drop-down arrow in any column to sort the list alphabetically or numerically, or use text filters to find specific projects efficiently.
Date Filtering
If the field is a date type, users can filter projects by any of the columns displayed on the project. They can then save that filter and access it when they want to narrow the view in the project list.
- To create a new filter, click the drop-down next to the name of the column.
- Select the objects you want displayed in the the view.
- Click, Apply Filter.
- You can see the objects selected are all that appear in the report. If you want to save this filter, click Save Current filter.
- Give the filter a name and click the + icon.
- Navigate back to the filter button.The filter can now be found and applied under the view. Click the delete icon to remove the filter.
Action Menu Options
Project Action Options
You can perform the following actions on a project within the Projects section:
- Edit: Click Edit to open the project for modifications. This allows you to make necessary changes.
- Open in New Tab: Select Open in new tab to view the project in a new browser tab. This enables you to keep the original list accessible.
- Information: Click Information to view an overview of the project details. This provides essential information at a glance.
- Favorite: Click Favorite to add the project to your Favorites list. This allows for quick access in the future.
- Make Child Of: Click Make child of to designate the project as a sub-project of another project. To reverse this action and move the project back to the main status, select Move to Root.
These options help you manage and navigate projects efficiently.
