Creating a New Workflow
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Administrators can create new workflows in Screendragon using the Workflow Builder within the Admin Tools. Workflows define the sequence of steps, assignments, and actions that govern how forms and approvals progress through a process.
Initiating a Workflow
To create a new workflow:
Navigate to Admin Tools → Workflow Builder.
You can see two tabs. The Workflows tab includes all active workflows. The Archived Workflows tab are for workflows no longer in use.
Click the Create New button.
Managing Steps in the Workflow Builder
Each step represents a stage in the workflow and can be configured with custom labels, icons, and actions.
Adding a Step
To add a new step:
From the Shapes panel, drag and drop the desired shape onto the workflow canvas.
Position the step where it fits within your workflow sequence.
Double click the shape to open the steps.
Tip: Use consistent shapes and labels to make workflows easy to interpret for end users.
Next Step: Click here for detailed guidance on completing all steps of the form.
Save or Submit the Form
- Save as Draft: Saves the form to be completed later.
- Submit: Sends the form on its default workflow path.
Workflow Progression
Once submitted, the form enters the first step of the workflow process.
- It may be assigned to specific users who are responsible for taking action.
- The workflow then moves to the next step based on the action taken.
- Rules around assignments, available actions, and process steps are defined by administrators in the Workflow Builder (outside the scope of this document).
