Permissions
The Permissions tab controls which users or groups can view, edit, or administer an export report template. These settings help maintain data security and ensure only authorized users can modify or access sensitive reporting configurations.
Each row in this tab represents a user, team, or permission group, while the columns define the specific level of access granted to each.
Managing Permissions
- Navigate to the Permissions tab in the Export Report Builder.
- Locate the user or group in the list (or use the search bar to find them).
- Select the appropriate checkbox under 'View', 'Edit', or 'Admin' for each entry.
- Click Save to apply the updated permissions.
Changes take effect immediately and determine who can access, modify, or manage the report moving forward.
Permission Levels Overview
A checkbox represents each permission level. Selecting a checkbox grants the associated level of access to the user or group.
View
- Grants read-only access to the export report.
- Users with View permission can:
- Run or schedule the report.
- Download export results.
- Review existing report configurations (without editing).
- Suitable for general users who need visibility into data but should not modify report logic.
Edit
- Grants configuration access to modify the export template.
- Users with Edit permission can:
- Add, remove, or adjust columns, filters, and sorting.
- Change export formats and dashboard settings.
- Update the report template layout and save revisions.
- Ideal for report builders or project leads who manage data structure but don’t need full administrative rights.
Admin
- Grants full control over the export report and all related permissions.
- Users with Admin permission can:
- Modify all report settings and advanced configurations.
- Assign or revoke View/Edit/Admin rights for other users or groups.
- Delete or archive the report template if necessary.
- Reserved for system administrators, data managers, or site owners who oversee reporting governance.
Best Practices
- Assign View rights broadly to end users who need report visibility.
- Restrict Edit access to users responsible for maintaining report accuracy.
- Limit Admin rights to trusted system or department administrators.
- Review permissions periodically to ensure alignment with organizational data policies.
