TABLE OF CONTENTS

Editing a task in ScreenDragon allows you to update or correct details such as the task's description, deadlines, assigned users, or other relevant information. This ensures that the task accurately reflects the current requirements, helps keep the project organized, and facilitates effective collaboration among team members. Revisions can also help track progress, adjust priorities, or correct any errors that might have occurred during task creation.

To Inline Edit a Task

Editing a task individually allows you to update details such as description, deadlines, assigned users, status, or priority for a specific task. This ensures the task reflects current project needs and can improve clarity and accountability.

  1. Navigate to the task you want to edit in a project.
  2. Click the task item to edit it.
  3. Continue clicking the items in each column to adjust or edit the tasks.

Editing an Individual Task

  1. Click the name of the task you want to edit. A dialogue box appears where you can make changes to multiple areas of the task.
  2. Under the first tab, Task Details, you can edit such things as Description, Start and End Date, Status, Phase, Duration, Set Task Times, and tag other users in comments. For more information on each of these fields and how they work, see Completing Task Details.

  3. Under the Assign tab, click the box next to the role or individual you want to assign or un-assign to a task. For more details on how to make task assignments, see Making Task Assignments.

  4. Under the Dependencies tab, click Add Dependencies if you don't already have dependencies created for this task.

  5. In the fields, add details for each dependency. For information, click Creating Task Dependencies.

  6. Under Time Allocation, you can adjust the percentage and hours allocated to the individual assigned or to the role. You can also change who is assigned by clicking the drop-down to change the role, and using the smart assignments to allocate the hours to the person best able to fill that role.

Bulk Editing a Task

Bulk editing enables you to modify multiple tasks at once. This is especially useful when applying common updates, such as changing deadlines, reassigning tasks, updating status, or adjusting priorities across several tasks. Bulk editing saves time and effort, ensures consistency, and helps streamline project management processes.

  1. Hover over the checkbox next to each task and click to select it.
  2. To select all tasks, click the checkbox at the top of the list header. This will select all tasks in the current view for bulk editing.

  3. Click Bulk Actions.

  4. Select the action you want to take from the drop-down menu. This will be applied to all the selected tasks.

Bulk Actions

You can choose from multiple bulk actions to apply to the selected tasks.

  • Mark As Complete: This option changes the status of selected tasks to "Completed," indicating that the work has been finished.

  • Allocate: Distributes resources or workload to the selected tasks, such as re-assigning team members or setting budgets.

  • Assign Unresourced Tasks: Assigns team members or resources to tasks that currently have no resources allocated.

  • Delete Tasks: Permanently removes the selected tasks from the project or task list.

  • Copy Tasks: This function creates duplicates of the selected tasks, including their details, for use in the same or a different project.

  • Link: Establishes a relationship between selected tasks, indicating dependencies or connections (e.g., one task must be completed before another).

  • Unlink: Removes the existing relationship or dependency between linked tasks.

  • Indent: Changes the selected task’s hierarchy level by making it a subordinate (child) under the task above, creating a nested structure.

  • Outdent: Moves the selected task up one level in the hierarchy, promoting it to a higher (parent) level.

  • Export to Excel: This function converts the selected tasks and their details into an Excel spreadsheet for reporting, analysis, or record-keeping purposes.
