Once a file has been uploaded to ScreenDragon, the following actions can be performed.
- Navigate to the Actions Icon next to the file you uploaded.
- Choose from any of the following options.
Open
- Allows users to annotate images and review previous versions.
Download
- Download the selected file directly to your computer's hard drive.
Edit

- Modify file metadata, including:
- Name: The designated identifier or title of the file, used to easily recognize and differentiate it from other files within the system.
- Description: A summary or detailed explanation of the file's content, purpose, or relevant information to help users understand its context and usage.
- Publish date: The file is officially made available or accessible within the system, indicating when it was published for users.
- Expiry date: The date after which the file is no longer available or valid, used to control its accessibility or visibility within the system automatically.
- Block download: A setting determining whether users can download the file. If enabled, the file can be downloaded; if disabled, the download option is restricted.
- Name: The designated identifier or title of the file, used to easily recognize and differentiate it from other files within the system.
- Attached metadata: allows users to input, view, and modify associated metadata for a file. Metadata includes additional descriptive information that enhances file organization, searchability, and management within the system.
- Email Notification: Toggle this to enable email notifications to send to users.
Enter the email and contact information for the individual you are notifying. Then click Send. - Save changes to update the file's attributes.
Cut
- Remove the file from its current location and store it in the clipboard for pasting elsewhere within the system.
Copy
- Copy the file to the clipboard for pasting in a different location within the system.
Delete
- Permanently remove the file from the system.
File Share

- Generate a direct URL link to the asset.
- Click the Email option to send the link via email. This opens the default email application with a draft containing the link.
- Clicking the link will launch the system and navigate directly to the associated asset.
Check Out
- Download the file to the user's local machine.
- Lock the file to prevent others from editing during modifications.
- Enables desktop editing of the file.
Check In / Cancel Check Out
- After checking out, the Check In and Cancel Check Out buttons become available.
- Check In:
- Prompts the user to upload an updated version of the file.
- Replaces the existing version in the system.
- Cancel Check Out:
- Reverts the file to its original state without saving changes made during checkout.
- Reverts the file to its original state without saving changes made during checkout.
Version Control
ScreenDragon provides robust asset version management:
- Check-In Types:
- Minor Version: Incremented from a version such as 1.1 to 1.2.
- Major Version: Incremented from 1.1 to 2.0.
- Viewing Version History:
- Access previous versions via the File History tab when opening a file.
