Report Tags are used to categorize and organize export reports within Screendragon. They provide an easy way to group, filter, and search for reports — especially in environments where multiple teams or users create and share export templates.
Purpose
Tags allow you to:
- Categorize reports by purpose, department, client, or data type.
- Improve discoverability by making it easier to find reports using keyword search.
- Support collaboration by helping users quickly locate reports relevant to their role or workflow.
Adding Tags
When creating or editing a report template, you can assign one or more tags in the Report Tags field.
Tags are free-text keywords or phrases (e.g., Finance, Timesheets, Client Reports, Resource Planning).
Multiple tags can be added, separated by commas or spaces, depending on the configuration.
Using Tags for Search and Filtering
The Report Tags field is indexed for search across the Export Report Builder.
When users type a keyword in the report search bar, Screendragon searches report titles and tags.
Reports with matching tags appear in the search results, allowing users to quickly locate relevant templates.
Filters in the main report list may also allow you to filter by tag category (e.g., “Show only Finance-tagged reports”).
Tag Display and Management
Tags typically appear as clickable labels or badges next to report names in the list view.
Clicking a tag filters the list to show all reports with the same tag.
Users with Edit or Admin permissions can add, remove, or rename tags on existing reports.
Example Use Cases
Scenario | Example Tags | Benefit |
---|---|---|
Department-based reporting | Finance, HR, Marketing | Users can quickly find reports relevant to their department. |
Client-specific exports | Nike, Unilever, Clorox | Allows project teams to group reports by client name. |
Report purpose | Billing, Forecasting, and Utilization | Makes it easy to locate reports designed for specific analysis types. |
Access or team type | Leadership, Project Managers, Resource Team | Helps ensure each group sees only relevant templates. |
Best Practices
Use consistent tag naming across teams (e.g., avoid mixing “HR” and “Human Resources”).
Keep tag names short and descriptive — ideally one or two words.
Apply multiple tags for cross-categorization (e.g., Finance, Timesheet, Monthly).
Periodically review and clean up unused tags to maintain a tidy reporting environment.
