Creating an Attribute Tree

Modified on Tue, 9 Sep at 7:47 PM

An attribute tree is needed when you want to create dependent or hierarchical selections within a form. Instead of showing a long, flat list of options, attribute trees allow you to display only the relevant child options based on a user’s selection at the parent level.

Follow these steps to create an attribute tree:

  1. Navigate to Attribute List

    • Go to the Attribute List tab located in the Admin tools area under Attribute Management.

    • From the dropdown menu, select Add Attribute List.

  2. Set Tree Title

    • Enter a name in the Tree Title field. This title helps identify your attribute tree within the system.

  3. Select Child Type

    • From the dropdown list, choose a Child TypeThis links your attribute list to another existing attribute list, enabling the tree relationship.

  4. Add Attribute Type Child

    • Press Add to insert a child attribute type into the tree.

  5. Manage Attribute Values

    • Use the options provided to add or remove attribute values as needed.

    • These values define the selectable options for each level in your tree.

  6. Save

    • Click Save to complete the setup of your attribute tree.

  • Attribute trees can be nested to multiple levels depending on your needs.

  • Each child type must be an existing attribute list in the system.

  • Always save changes to avoid losing progress.
